Charlie Lee Karate News and Events
Student Creed
We all want the best for our children; here is some information about our program to help with your child’s personal development.
Charlie Lee Karate, Children Program is based on non-violence and teaching old-fashion values of respect and discipline. We use a respected martial arts curriculum and combine it with an organized method of teaching values and principles to children of all ages.
Remember, it took years for your child to develop any assets or deficiencies that he/she has, so give us a chance by working with us to correct these deficiencies. Depending on the circumstances, this may take a month, or a year, but it is always possible with your cooperation;
- Do not allow him/her to play in his/her uniform. The child will lose respect for the uniform. It should be treated like a Sunday outfit.
- Always praise your child for his/her efforts in karate, they will try harder.
- If you have a problem or your child has a problem, see an Instructor as soon as possible and we will try to help correct it.
- Never take sides with your child against the Instructor because the children must always remain respect for the Instructors.
- Always bring your child here on time so that he/she does not feel out of place when he/she arrives late to class.
- Make sure you bring your child at least two to three times a week, to make sure he/she is developing properly in our program.
Have your child learn the Student Creed. This pledge establishes the philosophy of our karate program, which is knowledge in the mind, honesty in the heart and strength in the body. When your child learns and memorizes the Student Creed it shows that they are willing to accept the self-discipline and promise to use their Karate in a positive way. They are then ready to receive their White Belt/Orange memory stripe (Lil Samurai).
In keeping with the principles and goals of the Martial Arts, we have a Self-Discipline Program. The object is to encourage the development of self-discipline into your child through positive reinforcement. Your child will earn special recognition and awards as they learn to accept responsibilities at home or school. In earning recognition, your child must do something at home or school that they are not told to do, such as cleaning their room, doing homework, or helping with chores. You will write it down on the self-discipline sheet.
